The trip along the M40 to Handy Cross saw us take 3rd place with 178.5 points,a very useful score since the team was small - but beautiful. There were hosts of 5 pointers but the team was bereft in places, not least in the middle distances which is something of a plague afflicting most K&P teams - Surrey President Rachel Disley, bless her W40 heart, ran 400,4x400,800,1500 & 3000,mostly on her lonesome. Nonetheless, there was a refreshing composure, confidence and enjoyment about the team.Full scores : Wycombe 208/Havant 185/K&P 178.5/Hastings 144.5/Radley 95. After 4 of the 6 matches,K&P are 10th overall(of 25) and are within 26 points of a top five promotion place.
In the U15s,there were 3 doubles with Lucy Jones having a field day - 75H Lucy(12.4 =PB) & Mary Iheke(12.8 PB),LJ Lucy(4.59 PB) & Emily Kneebone(4.36) and 200 Mary(26.6) & Lucy(28.0).The 4 x 100 team with Roseanne Mackay added to the above won well in 52.7 and Rachel Moore picked up points all over the place;Emily also clocked 13.9 for a 100 PB.
The Senior events produced some dominant performances and included more doubles - LJ Dominique Blaize(5.14) & Sasha Gordon(4.98);Discus Camilla Thrush(32.17) & debuting Minika Davies(W40) (31.15) where Jenny Davies(no relation) threw a PB as a non-scorer(31.69); and Shot Camilla(10.13) & Jenny(9.56) with Minika reaching 9.40 also.Other heartening marks came from Debbie Raymond 75.0 at 400H plus a PB PV at 2.00;Sarah Harris looked a class apart at 100/200(12.8/25.9);we easily won the 4 x 100 at 51.2 and Mary Waddington was over 20m in the Hammer with a 20.30 PB. Elsewhere,Claire Stonestreet,Clare Nelson & Liz Richardson beavered away equally well, each claiming at least one 4 pointer.
